Ionia JV Baseball opened up the season against Fowlerville Gladiators last night. 

Mason Braman was the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs and 4 and a 3rd innings allowing 3 earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 6 and walking none. Ionia kept the game close through the first 4 innings only being down 4, but some throwing errors allowed Fowlerville to score 6 runs in the 5th ending the game at 10-0. 

Batting wise for Ionia, Carter Ralston secured the lone hit in the game while Hoppes, Sayers, and Crippen each secured walks. 

In the second game Roel Lopez started off strong on the mound allowing 0 runs in the first 2 innings, but a big 11 run inning by the Gladiators in the 3rd put Ionia down 11-0. Roel finished with 1 strikeout, 1 walk, allowing 9 hits on 2 earned runs. Teddy Sprank pitched in relief giving up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Ionia ended up losing 13-0. 

Noah Castillo and Caiden Sayers each recorded a hit and stolen base in the contest. 

Ionia JV Baseball is now 0-2 on the season and will next travel to Lowell to play the Red Arrows starting @4:15 on Thursday April 11th in a single contest for the night.
