Ionia JV Baseball Wins Annual Tournament!

Ionia JV Baseball hosted their annual tournament this Saturday April 22nd with Lakewood, Central Montcalm, Saranac, and Ionia all attending. 

 

Ionia JV Baseball nabbed a win over Central Montcalm JV to start off the tournament 14-5,  despite a big push by Central Montcalm JV in the fifth inning.  

Ionia JV Baseball secured the victory thanks to ten runs in the fifth inning.  Carter Starks, Trevor Hodges, Hunter Roundtree, Nolan Lundstrom, Colt Piercefield, and  Jaxson Palmer powered the big inning with RBIs.

Christian Miller was on the mound for Ionia JV Baseball. The righthander allowed five hits and five runs over four and a third innings, striking out seven.

Ionia JV Baseball tallied 11 hits on the day.  Hodges, Piercefield, Lundstrom, and Erridge all managed multiple hits for Ionia JV Baseball.  Hodges went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Ionia JV Baseball in hits.  Piercefield led Ionia JV Baseball with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.

 

In the championship Ionia played Saranac RedHawks JV and with Trevor Hodges on the mound, Ionia JV Baseball shuts out Saranac RedHawks JV winning 10-0 in 5 innings and winning the tournament!

In the first inning, Ionia JV Baseball got their offense started when Christian Miller singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Ionia JV Baseball notched five runs in the fifth inning.  The offensive onslaught came from a single by Miller and a double by Parker Seidleman.

Hodges led things off on the mound for Ionia JV Baseball. The pitcher went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Ionia JV Baseball tallied nine hits.  Hodges, Miller, and Kellan Ferguson all had multiple hits for Ionia JV Baseball.  Ferguson, Miller, and Hodges all had two hits to lead Ionia JV Baseball.  Ionia JV Baseball stole ten bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Miller led the way with three.

 

Ionia is now 9-3 on the season and will next play on Thursday April 27th @home vs Hastings @4:00pm
