Ionia girls varsity soccer team defeated Wyoming Kelloggsville 2-0 on Friday night. 

The defense came to play today and recorded their 5th shutout of the season. Any thoughts of going to goal were immediately shut down by the Ionia defense tonight, as we only allowed 1 shot on goal for the entire 80 minutes. Isabelle Vasquez, Mimose Sandborn, and Katie Leonard created a wall of a back line, and Bailey Hewett played excellent while filling into the back as the 4th defender. 

The offense put up 47 shots on the night, but struggled to connect on more than two. The offense did a really nice job of winning balls and working together to keep possession throughout the game. They kept the pressure on Kelloggsville all game long.

Addyson Roundtree scored the first goal of the night on a well assisted ball by Alexa Barna. Natalia Magallon would score the other goal in the game. Kaylynn Doty would record one save and pick up her 5th shutout as a varsity goal keeper. 

Ionia improves to 4-7-3 on the season and will turn around and play again tomorrow morning, 5/10 with an 11 am kickoff vs Lansing Catholic
