Ionia girls varsity soccer was defeated by a score of 2-0 against Eaton Rapids on Thursday. Eaton Rapids put out a very competitive team and comes into the season as one of the favorites to win the league. Ionia showed that we were not outmatched one bit in a very competitive and defensive battle. Eaton Rapids would put in a goal early in the first half and the game would become a stalemate for the next 70 minutes until ER snuck in a goal very late in the game. Ionia's defense competed extremely hard and made one great play after another. 

Katie Leonard was the star defender in the middle tonight, while Josie Lee and Mimose Sandborn made stop after stop on the powerful defense. Alexa Barna and Natalia Magallon each recorded 2 shots on goal and Kaylynn Doty would record 12 saves on the night, including some impressive diving saves. Kelila Rustin, Tessa Masengale and Isabelle Vasquez continue to be the engine that drives the team as they continue to put together well rounded performances in the middle. 

Ionia's record stands at 2-1 and will take on St. Johns in Ionia on Saturday 4/13 with an 11:30 kick off. The Jv game will kick off at 10:00
