PORTLAND HIGH SCHOOL: 5
Ionia Girls Varsity Soccer traveled to Portland and battled tough but ultimately fell short by a score of 5-0
The game went back and forth, with neither team really dominating the field. The score was 1-0 for most of the first half and Portland was able to sneak a goal with only 4 minutes left in to take a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Portland scored three more throughout the second half and we were unable to capitalize on our opportunities. The girls played hard and played together from start to finish, as we continue to build and improve every day.
Kelila Rustin recorded 20 saves to put her total well over 100 on the year. Tessa Masengale continues to log huge minutes for us every game at every position, while Martina Sierra and Marte van Deist did a great job on the defensive side.
Ionia will play a home game on Friday at 6.
