The Ionia Girls Varsity Soccer Team were defeated by Hastings by a score of 4-0 on Wednesday evening.
Hastings jumped out to an early lead by scoring early in the first half, then scoring a second goal on a penalty kick. They led 4-0 at the half. Ionia buckled down in the second half and played an even game. We were on the second leg of a hard fought back to back from Tuesday night, but the girls showed a lot of fight playing through fatigue and soreness. We played together and played hard until the very end.
Marte van Diest and Ali Vasquez helped anchor the defense to hold Hastings scoreless in the second half, while Tessa Masengale and Kara Kramer played well up top.
