The Ionia Girls Varsity Soccer Team battled hard in a classic style rivalry game on Tuesday night. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Ionia controlled the ball for most of the start. We were getting shots on goal but just couldn’t capitalize. Lakewood shifted the tide by scoring a goal midway through the first half. Ionia continued to pressure the goal, and Kara Kramer scored the first goal of the season early in the second half on a through ball assisted by Isabella Vasquez. Both teams battled hard for the remaining 30 minutes of the game but neither team could score a goal despite many chances
Kelila Rustin dazzled again back in the goal, making some incredible saves. She finished with 14 saves total.
Ionia will look to pick up their first win of the season as they travel to Hastings tomorrow at 5:30 for a back to back.
