Ionia traveled to Haslett and opened the season with a 64-41 win, outscoring the Vikings 25-11 in the 4th quarter. Lance Atkinson led the attack with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Gauge McQueen added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Trevor Tooker finished with 11 points along with 6 assists. The Bulldogs had 11 players score.
Ionia will have its home opener hosting Eaton Rapids this Friday.
