Ionia Varsity Wrestling team had a great day on the mat at the Delton Kellogg Invite today. Ionia took 3rd place going 2-2 on the day. In round one, Ionia earned a win over Parchment 60-24. For round two Ionia wrestled Delton with the match ending in a 39-39 tye losing on the 6th criteria tie breaker; Delton went on to win the whole tournament. In round three, Ionia lost to Paw Paw by one match with a final score of 35-42. In the last round, Ionia beat Comstock 48-24. Ionia had 7 wrestlers come home with medals today. 5 wrestlers went undefeated: 4-0 Ricky Charon at 113lbs, Chad Campbell at 120lbs, Aaron Wolthuis at 126lbs, Wyatt Berry at 175lbs, and Jonathan Rico at 215lbs.  We had 2 more wrestlers that brought home medals going 3-1 were Wade Charon at 106lbs and Vincent Crippen at 144lbs. Jack Wickham went 2-2 with 2 pins and Drake Wittenbach also earned a win today. Your Bulldogs now have a team dual record of 3-3 so far this season. Ionia will travel to Eaton Rapids this Wednesday and wrestle a quad vs Eaton Rapids then Waverly. Wrestling will start at 5pm.
