Girls Varsity Wrestling Heading to Regionals

Ionia's girls varsity traveled to Hastings today to compete in the first ever MHSAA girls individual districts. Sarah Schafer was our only wrestler today. She wrestled very tough, finishing third place, and advancing to Individual Regional's next weekend. Sarah lost her first match in the semi finals where she wrestled an opponent from East Kentwood. She then dropped down to the blood rounds, pinning her opponent from Otsego and then moved on to the placement round where she pinned another girl from Bellevue to earn third place. Sarah will compete at Individual Regional's next Sunday at Portage Northern.
