Ionia Girls Track and Field finishes 3rd out of 9 Teams at the Lakewood Invitational on Saturday April 15, 2023
The Ionia girls chalked up 11 PR’s (Personal Records) and 10 SR’s (Season Records) on their way to a good showing against a number of traditionally tough Track and Field Teams. The format of the meet was a “True Team” scoring meet in which every athlete competing in the meet, scores points for their team. For example, in individual events with 30 participants, first place would score 30 points, 2nd Place 29 points, all the way down to 30th place scoring 1 Point. This type of meet can make the meaning of the meet more meaningful to all of the athletes competing, as there points contribute to the overall team score.
