CHARLOTTE MIDDLE SCHOOL: 64
Tonight, the Bulldogs hosted Charlotte for their first game of the season. Ionia came out aggressively and built a one-point lead after the first quarter. Charlotte was able to take a lead in the second quarter, and at halftime, Ionia was down 21-19. The team talked about keeping up the intensity from the first half but with some costly misplays, Charlotte took a big lead into the third. Ionia continued to battle throughout the game and never gave up. The final score was Ionia 40 and Charlotte 64. Leading scores were Tanner Batista with 10 points and Chase Reister with 7. Other contributors were Quiintin Castillo with 6 and Austin Ayany with 6. Landen Gerstein had 5, Garrett Gorby with 2, Conner Vanallsburg with 2, and Parker Spitzley with 2. Good contribution from the team. Ionia is now 0-3 on the season. Their next game is Monday, November 18 at Olivet.
