PORTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL : 45
Tonight the Bulldogs hosted Portland for their first matchup of the season. It was a great night for the Bulldogs as they won 48-45. Ionia was able to take the lead in the first quarter and never gave it up. At the end of the first half, Ionia was up 25-16. The Bulldogs were able to increase their lead to 14 at the end of the third. We talked about not letting up because Portland would make a run in the fourth. They did just that but the Bulldogs were able to hang on long enough for their first win. Leading scorers were Grant Starks with 11 points and Bryce Schmid with 10 points. Other scorers were Bryce Shattuck with 9, Carson Schmid with 9, Guy Ferguson with 3, Aiden Washington with 3, Cody Waterman with 2, and Lucas McCoy with 1 point. The Bulldogs are now 1-4 on the season. Their next game is at home on Wednesday, Nov. 29 against Lakewood.
