Girls 7th Grade A Volleyball beats Portland Middle School

The Ionia Girls 7th Grade A Volleyball team started out strong taking a commanding lead and not letting go. Ionia won the first set 25-17. Grace Droste led the team with 11 service points, 3 aces. The Lady Dawgs continued to play together and jumped out to a strong lead and never let Portland back into the set. Defensively Emmard Pinnard led Ionia and the team dominated with their serve scoring 8 aces. Ionia won 25-16. The final set was a bit shakey as Portland jumped out to a 8-0 lead but the Lady Dawgs battled back. Ionia started a comeback but fell just short losing 10-15. Ionia played well tonight and will travel to Grand Ledge Hayes on Wednesday. Ionia is 3-5 for the season.
