The Ionia 8^th Grade Volleyball team traveled to Mason tonight. Eager to keep their undefeated record, the A Team Dawgs came out hungry. Logan Thomas had several nice serves and kills in the first set, playing aggressive at the net. Despite having an injured ankle, Emma Hoppough battled her way around the court not letting anything stop her. She had 6 nice assists in the first set. The Bulldogs took the early victory over Mason 25-21. Ionia had high energy coming onto the court for set two. Ariana Frias was strong in the middle front as well as behind the service line. Amelia Griffith also had an excellent game at the net putting up 3 solid blocks. Kaya Clark was a shark on defense and read the ball well. Shiann Boer served strong and had some nice digs on defense. Avery Hoppough covered her front row well and had several great swings from the outside. The Dawgs took set two 25-17. The final set was neck and neck and a few mishaps in communication gave Mason an advantage. Despite the Bulldogs’ efforts to fight back and win, we fell just short of the victory in the end and lost 14-16. It was a great night of exciting games from both teams!

The A Team Bulldogs are 11-1 thus far and will travel to Portland Monday night to take on our rival Raiders. Let’s go Ionia!
