The 9th Grade Volleyball Team had a strong showing at the Ionia Tournament on Saturday. During the first match of pool play the Bulldogs beat P-W 25-13, and 25-22. Avery Hoppough and Kaylee Stoakes both had great serving runs during the games. The Bulldogs then tied with Chippewa Hills taking home both a win 25-13 and a loss 16-25 and took home two more "W's" against bath 25-15, and 25-10 to take 1st coming out of pool play. During elimination play during the afternoon the girls battled hard against Big Rapids winning in three 25-17, 15-25, and 15-6. The Bulldogs then lost the first game against North Point Christian 13-25 but came back strong winning 25-20. They never gave up in game three losing 15-11. Overall, the girls moved and covered the floor very well but unforced errors on serving during the afternoon cost the bulldogs moving on to championship game.
Avery Hoppough and Kaylee Stoakes led the team in Aces for the day at 9 a piece, while Marley Slater and Danica White both added 7 apiece. Ariana Frias had 6 Kills, while Danica White had 5 and Marley Slater had 3. Shiann Boer played tough on the net. Avery Hoppough and Bella Delgado worked hard of the floor getting to the second pass and putting up sets to assist their teammates. Kaya Clark, Danica White, Cora Nummer, and Ariana Frias led the team with great first passes for the day.
The Bulldogs play next against Lansing Catholic at home on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
