The Ionia Freshman Volleyball Team improved their record to 5-2-1 against Portland.  The girls came out ready to play in the first match beating the raiders 25-22, then came out slow in match 2.  The girls got down by 11 points early before being able to shift the momentum of the game.  Unfortunately, the deficit proved to be too much to recover from and the bulldogs lost 21-25.   In the final game of the set this evening, both sides came out tough and points were won and answered by both sides of the court.  The score was tied 9-9 when freshman Kaya Clark came up to serve 6 in a row to bring home the win.  

Tonight, the girls played well as a team.  Kaya Clark lead the team with 3 aces, while Kaylynn Wizorek added another 2.  Ariana Frias had 6 kills in the front row, while Danica White had 2,  and Shiann Boer and Kaylee Stoakes also had a kill each.  Brooklynn Burhans, Kennedy Sullivan, and Shiann Boer each came away with a block to assist the bulldog win.  The Lady Dawgs will play again at Charlotte on September 19th, at 5:00 p.m.
