PORTLAND HIGH SCHOOL: 2
The Freshman Ionia Lady Dawgs went to Portland to take on the Raiders. In the first set the Lady Dawgs were aggressive and worked hard. The girls were strong on the net but the defense struggled to keep the ball in play. Falling in the first set the Lady Dawgs lost 13-25.
Going into the second set the Lady Dawgs wanted a win badly and it showed. The Lady Dawgs fought on the net and were aggressive in the back row. With multiple hits blocks and tips the Lady Dawgs made the Raiders work hard. As the points added up the tension also got high. The Lady Dawgs failed to keep the ball in play but did not give up. They fell in the second set 22-25.
The Freshman team will be going to Belding High School for a Quad Thursday 10/21 5pm. The teams participating in the quad will be Ionia, Belding, Hastings, and Waverly.
