Ionia JV Softball Home Opener vs. Portland St. Patrick

The Ionia JV Softball team opened their season at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, facing off against Portland St. Patrick. Despite showing improvements at the plate and strong defensive moments, the Bulldogs fell short in both games.  

Game 1:
Ionia battled hard but ultimately fell to St. Patrick, 7-23. Offensively, the Bulldogs showed progress from last week, with Kaya Clark going 2-for-3, Izzy Gallagher reaching base in all three plate appearances (1-for-1 with two walks), and Analina Falcon contributing with a hit and a walk. Taylor Ferris and Kaya Clark were on the mound in game one with Taylor leading the way recording one strikeout. 

Game 2: 
The Bulldogs came out strong in Game 2, scoring four runs in the first inning to take an early 4-3 lead. However, offensive struggles set in, with Ionia unable to generate consistent hits. Izzy Gallagher went 1-for-2, and multiple players worked walks to reach base. Defensively, the team made strong plays, but Portland St. Patrick capitalized on key opportunities, scoring eight more runs over the next two innings to take the game 4-11. Kaya Clark, Taylor Ferris, and Kaylynn Wizorek all contributed on the mound for the Bulldogs.  

Ionia will host the Lakewood Vikings on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12 PM.
