PORTLAND HIGH SCHOOL: 3
The Ionia JV Girls Softball Team achieved a sweep for the night verse Portland at their field on Wednesday, May 4th. The girls were able to start off the evening with some important hits and strong defensive plays in order to maintain the lead and win 15-3. Emma White and Mariah Stoakes both went 2-4 with a walk, Kaidence Thomas went 3-4 with a walk and Allyson Strasser went 2-2 with 3 walks. Kaidence Thomas pitched for the Bulldogs during this game. The second game started off not as hot with a tie in the first inning until the girls started being smarter at the plate. Kaidence Thomas and Emma White both went 1-1 with 3 walks. They finished this game with a win of 14-4. Liberty Stanard was the winning pitcher during this game. The JV Softball Team now stands at 9-5, hoping to continue strong into their added home game on Friday, May 6th verse Bullock Creek.
