KELLOGGSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL - WYOMING: 4
The Ionia Girls JV soccer team went against Wyoming Kellogsville we won 5-4!
The first half the team did great. Our defense with Bailey Hewett and Carly Valera-Benavidez were unstoppable and able to keep the ball up and outside where our midfield was able to get the ball to our forwards. Amelia McGee sent the ball to Enma Rio Miravalles who scored our first goal. We kept the momentum going when Cora Nummer gave a great thru ball to Amelia McGee who soared it over the keepers head. We finished off the half strong when Maddie Lemke shot the ball and Cora Nummer crashed the shot from the keepers ricochet and knicked it in. The second half of the game was a real nail biter. It went back and forth with the ball movement we'd get a shot on goal and get stopped then the ball would get moved down field. Kellogsville was able to get 3 goals in within the first 15 minutes. The Bulldogs were able to regroup and our defense was able to cover our keeper a lot better with Addie Bowne and Carly Valera-Benavidez as centralized defense. This made it possible for us to move it up the middle and to our forward Maddie Lemke who was able to carry it and send an amazing ball to Enma Rio Miravalles who was able to move it through to Amelia McGee who was able to get it past the keeper. Kellogsville came back and shot it past our keeper again tying the game at 4-4. With 45 seconds left we received a corner kick. Maddie Lemke sent a great ball right to the center where the Bulldogs were all over it. It finally got dropped to Carly Valera-Benavidez who had a beautiful shot right in the top corner over the keepers head with 23 seconds left to play. The game was great from start to finish and the Bulldogs never gave up!!!
This leaves the JV at a total of 4-0-6. Our next game is Tuesday May 13th at 5:30pm. Where we will face off against Okemos High School at Ionia High School.
