Ionia hosted Lansing today and brought home the win in honor of our loved ones touched by cancer, 136-13.  The line-up was different than we normally swim with our younger and newer swimmers taking the lead.  We had 26 more best times.  Ionia worked hard to cheer for and support the Lansing swimmers since they had a large group home sick. The meet ended with the traditional shirt ceremony in honor of our loved ones, and the meet culminated with some special, fun events.  Thank you to our family and friends who helped work the meet, who participated in the activities, and who gave monetary donations to the cause.  A special shout-out goes to Athletic Director, Andy Barr, for participating in the final relay and for agreeing to be SOAKED with a 5 gallon bucket of ice water - all for a good cause.  In all, $515 was raised for Ionia Community Awareness.

Highlights of our meet included:

Tessa Nash finished first in the 200 yard freestyle.

Lexi Heinlein took first in the 200 yard individual medley.

Lena Cox took first in the 50 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle.

Kennedy Batista took first in the 100 yard butterfly.

Rain Pinnow took first in the 100 yard freestyle.

Kaylynn Doty took first in the 100 yard backstroke by 0.45

The relay team of Jadyn Gardner, Lydia French, Rain Pinnow and Amelia McGee took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay by 0.17.

Ionia is 1-1 in the CAAC Red and will host Eaton Rapids next Thursday.
