Ionia traveled to Holt this morning and took third at the Holt invitational, narrowly missing second place by just 8.5 points.  The girls swam hard and demonstrated a lot of potential.  With a third of our swimmers new to the team this year, they did well and still have a lot to room for growth.  Despite only being in the water for 10 days of practice, we had 18 best times overall, and Amelia McGee earned her first state cut time in the 100 yard backstroke.  We brought home several medals for top 3 in relay events and top 8 in individual events.

McGee took 1st in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke with a state cut time of 1:03.57.

Katelyn Lamphere took 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle with a strong finish to out-touch her opponent by 0.13.  She also took 3rd in the 100 yard backstroke.

Ella Udell took 3rd in the 50 yard freestyle and 5th in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Evelyn Kleibusch made her high school diving debut and took 4th.

Adah Drown took 3rd in the 100 yard butterfly and 8th in the 200 yard freestyle.

Isabelle Robinson tied for 5th in the 50 yard freestyle and took 7th in the 200 yard freestyle.

Kaylynn Doty took 7th in the 100 yard backstroke. 

Nadya Strickling took 8th in the 500 yard freestyle.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of McGee, Robinson, Drown and Udell took 3rd.

The 400 yard freestyle relay team of McGee, Robinson, Drown and Lamphere also took 3rd. 

Ionia will travel to Corunna on Wednesday for the first dual meet of the season.
