Game 1

 

Ionia Bulldogs fell to St. Patrick shamrocks 15-14 on Wednesday on the final play of the game.

 

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, St. Patrick shamrocks had 11 hits on the way to victory.

 

Kennedy Batista and Allyson Schmid each drove in two runs for Ionia Varsity Bulldogs. Schmid went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Ionia Varsity Bulldogs in hits. Bowen collected two hits for Ionia in three at bats. Schmid stole three bases. Ionia had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. 

 

Game 2

 

Ionia took Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, with an 8-7 walk-off victory over St. Patrick Shamrocks. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the fifth Ava Bowen hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

 

Ionia came back to win despite trailing 6-0 in the first.

 

Adah Drown earned the win for Ionia Varsity Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one. 

 

Allyson Schmid led Ionia with two hits in three at bats. Stoakes, Kennedy Batista, Bowen, Barna, Schmid, and Shaw each drove in one run for Ionia. Ionia had a strong eye at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Ava Bucholtz and Lauryn Schmid led the team with two walks each. 

 

Ionia plays at home on Monday against Lakewood in their next game.
