Groom's Walk- Off Picture Perfect Ending in the Ionia 13 - 12 Victory over Lakewood in a 9 inning very Dramatic Game. Ionia was down 6 - 2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning and that is when the Big Sticks came out with Dingers by Senior Erin Groom and Junior Rajalyaj Esquivel. The Bulldogs tallied 5 runs in the bottom of 6th to finally take the lead 10 - 9, the Viking scored one run in top of 7th to tie the game at 10 each, we failed to score a run and  the game went into the 8th inning where both teams had a runner cross the plate and we go into the 9th inning where Lakewood scored one run then the Bulldogs came up to bat and were able to score 2 runs and get the win, Erin Groom singled on a 2 - 0 count and Scored Melayna Braman from second base. The Bulldogs collected 17 hits in the game led by Melayna Braman going 4 for 5 with one walk, she scored 3 runs and collected 2 RBI's. Raj Esquivel went 3 for 6, scoring 2 runs and getting 3 RBI's,  Senior Erin Groom went 3 for 4, scoring 2 runs and getting 4 RBI's. Londyn Brown went 2 for 5 with one walk and she scored 2 runs, Senior Rachel Siemen went 2 for 5 with an RBI. Emma White went 1 for 4 with one walk and she scored  2 runs and Alexias Daugherty went 1 for 3 with one walk and 1 RBI.  Junior Chloe Witter started the game in the cirlce and threw 3 innings giving up 6 runs on 9 hits and struck out 2, Center Fielder Raj Esquivel came in and threw the next 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits. There was some fairly awesome Bulldog Defense behind those 2 pitchers tonight and that combined with our Big Sticks got us the Win!

At the conclusion of the game we honored our 2 Seniors ( Erin Groom & Rachel Siemen) as they walked the base paths that are lined with the rest of the team and the jv team and they collect gifts and hugs. Senior Night is always a struggle for me, I get so attached to these kids and just want them to be Happy and always know that I am there for them.... and I know the rest of my awesome coaches feel the same way!!

We are now 15 & 13 and we travel to East Lansing on Monday #goblue #softballfamily
