LANSING EASTERN HIGH SCHOOL: 2
The varsity softball team traveled to Lansing Eastern for their first double header of the season. Rajalia Esquivel got the season going with a homerun, followed by 10 more in the first inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Esquivel, Erin Groom, Londyn Brown, Victoria Gutierrez, Karter Edwards, and Kam Perry. Ionia racked up 16 hits in the 3 inning mercy winning game one 19-2. Melayna Braman got the win in the circle giving up 2 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 2. Chloe Witter finished the game in relief.
In the second game Ionia won 26-1 in 2.5 innings. Victoria Gutierrez got the win striking out 5 and Chloe Witter closed the game out in relief. Melayna Braman led the offensive charge with 4 hits and 3 RBI. Rachel Siemen had 3 hits and Alexis Daughtery 2 hits and 4 RBI.
The Bulldogs are 2-0 on the season and travel to Fowlerville on Thursday.
