It was a pitchers battle tonight and with Sara Bevington in the circle the Bulldogs get the Win 1 - 0 against Lakewood’s Stahl. Sara struck out 7 and allowed zero runs. The Bulldog defense was Solid behind their pitcher. Top of 6th inning Erin Groom hits a ground ball and reaches first on an error by shortstop. Hannah Blanchard  bunts to move Groom to 2nd, Josie Phelps hits a groundball and reaches on an error by Stahl moving Groom to 3rd. Rajalia Esquivel singles to advanced Groom to home. 

The second game went extra innings with Lakewood getting the Win 2 - 1. Ionia scored in the 3rd inning when Josie Phelps bunts and reaches on an error by second baseman,  Maddie Braman is out on a foul tip but Phelps advances to 2nd, Rajalia Esquivel sac bunts and moves Phelps to 3rd, Melayna Braman hits a towering pop up and reaches on an error and Phelps scored.  Lakewood scored in top of 5th when Richard's reaches on an error and then she advanced on a fielders choice. Lakewood runner advanced on a bunt and scored on an error. Top of 8th inning Lakewood scores and goes into bottom of 8th and Ionia had runner at 3rd and couldn't push her across the plate. Layna Braman was in the circle for Ionia and surrendered 2 runs on 5 hits, striking out 3 and walking one.

Ionia Softball is now 21 - 8 and we travel to Belding tomorrow.
