The JV baseball team took on St Pats tonight and split a double header

Game 1:

Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs Falls To St. Patrick

Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs lost to St. Patrick 9-5 on Wednesday.

St. Patrick jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after #7 drew a walk, scoring one run, #9 drew a walk, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.

St. Patrick scored five runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. #2 singled, scoring one run, #20 singled, scoring one run, #15 drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

#2 earned the win for St. Patrick. The starter surrendered four hits and five runs over three innings, striking out six and walking four. Lucas McCoy pitched three innings in relief for Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs. The righty surrendered four hits and zero runs while, striking out three and walking none. Jaysen Schmid took the loss for Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler went one inning, surrendering five runs on two hits, striking out two and walking five. Alec Campbell started the game for Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and four runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out four and walking two. #7 earned the save.

Wade Charon led Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs defeated St. Patrick 6-5 on Wednesday.

Crew Palmer walked, which helped Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

St. Patrick took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after St. Patrick scored on a wild pitch, and #10 grounded out, each scoring one run.

Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Wade Charon was struck by a pitch, Vincent Crippen walked, and Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

St. Patrick captured the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth after #22 singled down the left field line, and #7 walked, each scoring one run.

Emory Block singled to left field, which helped Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs tie the game at five in the bottom of the fifth.

Teddy Sprank earned the win for Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs. The left-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking two. #22 took the loss for St. Patrick. The reliever went two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking four. #7 started on the hill for St. Patrick. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking two. Ethan Wenzel appeared in relief for Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs.

Block, Charon, and Crippen each drove in one run for Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs. Alec Campbell led Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Ionia Junior Varsity Bulldogs turned one double play in the game.

#22 and #10 each drove in one run for St. Patrick. St. Patrick had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. St. Patrick were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. #9 had the most chances in the field with eight.
