LANSING CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL: 5
The Ionia JV boys baseball team split with conference opponents Lansing Catholic Central tonight. The first game ended in the favor of the Cougars with a score of 14-4 and the 2nd game ended in favor of the Bulldogs with a score of 11-5.
Christian Miller was the starting pitcher for the first game, throwing 2 innings, giving up 7 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3, and walking 2. Parker Seidleman pitched in relief, throwing 4 innings, giving up 7 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 5, and no walks. The Bulldogs were only able to secure 3 hits in the first game. Carter Starks secured a double in the game, Christian Miller and Wyatt Erridge both secured singles in the game as well.
The winning pitcher for the night goes to Trevor Hodges who pitched a great second game. Trevor threw 4 and 2/3rds innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Gaven Elvert came in to close the game out, throwing 1 and 1/3rd innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking no one. The Bulldogs strung together 7 hits in this one and leading the way were Trevor Hodges and Ryan Lee. Trevor secured 1 triple and 1 double on the night while Ryan Lee was able to secure 2 doubles. Other players to secure hits in the game were Gage Flanner (1), Christian Miller (1), and Jaxson Palmer (1).
The Bulldogs are now 9-6-1 on the season and will next travel to play @Waverly on Thursday May 12th @4pm.
