Ionia hosted Hastings in a non-league doubleheader on Thursday, sweeping the Saxons 8-2 in game one and 13-1 in game two.  

Colt Piercefield started game one, pitching 2.1 innings giving up 1 run on 0 hits, 5 walks and 4 strikeouts, Colt picked up his second win on the season.  Parker Seidelman came in relief,  pitching 3.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 1 hit, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.  Alex Barr pitched 1 inning of scoreless baseball, striking out 1.  

Offensively Ionia had 9 hits, Trevor Hodges, Kellan Ferguson and Parker Seidelman all had hits for Ionia, Matt McCoy was 2-4 with an Rbi and 2 outfield assists, Christian Miller went 2-3 and 3 Rbi's and Carter Castillo and Alex Barr both had hits and Rbi's.

Trevor Hodges picked up his first win of the season for Ionia, he pitched 3 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Tyson McDiarmid relieved Trevor and pitched 2 innings, giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

Ionia pounded out 10 hits in the mercy rule game.  Parker Seidelman went 2-2 with 3 Rbi's, Tyson McDiarmid 3-3 and 2 Rbi's, Alex Barr 2-3 and 2 Rbi's, Christian Miller 1-3 and 2 Rbi's, Matt McCoy and Kellan Ferguson both added hits for the Bulldogs. Gaven Elvert sparked Ionia with 3 runs scored with a stolen base. 

Ionia improves to 5-4 on the season and will play at Charlotte for a league doubleheader on Tuesday, April 30th.
