The Ionia Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Thornapple Kellogg tonight and opened play against the host Trojans. The Bulldogs got out to a strong start winning the first set before losing a bit of momentum and dropping the 2nd set. However, Ionia was able to regroup and finish strong closing out the 3rd set and match. Next Ionia faced off against Waverly. They were able to carry over the momentum and win the match in straight sets. The final match up was against the other undefeated team of the night, Vicksburg. From the first serve by Grace Droste it was clear the Bulldoga had settled into their pace, maintaining the lead, and downing Vicksburg in straight sets. 

The Bulldogs.once again saw some great effort on defense with Logan Thomas leading the way with 23 digs while Lexi Daugherty added 18 and Paislie Patterson 13. At the net defensively Tessa Lemke led with 3 blocks while Droste added 2. Offensively the Bulldogs made some great runs led by Thomas with 16 while Ireland Brown put down 10 and Amaya Frias & Droste added 6 each. Droste once again kept the offense on point dishing out 47 assists. Droste also kept teams on their toes from behind the service line with 7 aces while Thomas and Patterson dropped in 4 each. 

Ionia Varsity is now 6-2 on the season and open home play on Wednesday September 4th at 5pm. Come pack the stands and cheer on these hardworking Bulldogs! Great work ladies!!
