Ionia Boys Varsity Tennis had success against the three quality, state qualifying teams at the DeWitt Quad. The Bulldogs beat Sandusky 6-2, Lost to DeWitt 3-5, and Lost to third in the state Big Rapids 1-7. Brett Petersen(12) at third singles was the only player to win his entire flight, he had an amazing day of tennis. Austin Currigan (12) 4th singles and Miles Gregory (12) 2nd singles won vs DeWitt and Sandusky and fell in a close matches to Big Rapids. Sam Eppler (12) at first singles also won against Sandusky and DeWitt and fell in a three set heartbreaker that lasted over two and a half hours 4-6, 7-5, (5-10) against the Big Rapids first singles who is ranked top five in the state for Division 4. The entire team was spectacular today against very stiff competition. Our next match is 10-3 at Lansing Eastern then we are off to compete in Regionals on 10-5.
