The Ionia boys varsity tennis team took first place at the Lakewood invitational Saturday winning six of eight flights.  1st singles Sam Eppler took second.  Sam beat Battle Creek Pennfield 6-3,6-4, lost to Lakewood 0-6,3-6,  and beat Greenville 6-2,7-6 (8-6).  2nd singles Jack Eppler won his flight by beating Battle Creek Pennfield 7-5,7-6 (7-5), lakewood 6-0,6-0, and Greenville 6-1,6-1.  3rd singles Brett longanbach won his flight with wins over Pennfield 6-0,6-0, lakewood 6-0,6-0, and Greenville 6-1,6-2.  4th singles Miles Gregory won his flight by beating Pennfield 7-5,6-4.  
 

1st doubles Collin Palmer and Brett Petersen won the flight by beating Pennfield 1-6,6-1 and 10-2 in the super tiebreak, Lakewood 6-3,6-3, and Greenville 6-1,6-0.  2nd doubles Ethan Rowland and Colter Clark won their flight beating Pennfield 6-3,6-1, lakewood 6-4,6-2, and Greenville 6-4,6-3.  3rd double Joel Cairns and Landon Duell took second losing to Pennfield 0-6, 7-5 and 2-10 in the third set tiebreak.  And 4th doubles Lucas Wandell and Elijah Hatfield won their flight by default.  
 

This is the second tournament this year the team has won.  Ionia has three matches next as the season winds down.
