The Ionia boys varsity tennis team won the Owosso invitational on Thursday with every flight taking first place.  First singles Sam Eppler won all three matches without losing a game.  Defeating Owosso, Durand and chesaning all by the score of 6-0,6-0.  2nd singles Jack eppler didn’t lose a set winning against Owosso 6-0,6-4.  Beating Durand 6-1,6-0. And beating chesaning 6-3,6-1.  Brett longanbach also won three matches without losing a game, beating Owosso 3-0 (forfeit), beating Durand 6-0,6-0 and beating chesaning 6-0,6-0.  Miles Gregory won without losing a set at 4th singles beating Owosso 6-1,6-1.  Beating Durand 6-1,6-0, and defeating chesaning 6-0, 7-6 (7-4 in the tiebreak.

First doubles Collin Palmer and Brett Petersen won their flight defeating Owosso 6-3,4-6, 10-7 in the third set tiebreak.  Defeating Durand 6-2,6-0 and beating chesaning 6-3,6-4.  2nd doubles Ethan Rowland and Colter Clark won their flight beating Owosso 6-3,6-3, Durand 6-0,6-0 and beat chesaning after losing the first set 0-6 by winning the second set 6-4 and then 10-6 in the third set tiebreak.  Third doubles Joel Cairns and Ben Marhofer won their flight beating Owosso 6-0,6-4, Durand 6-2,6-4 and chesaning 6-2,7-5 after being down 5-2 in the second set.  Finally fourth doubles Lucas Wandell and Elijah Hatfield won their flight beating Owosso 6-1,6-1, Durand 6-2,6-0 and chesaning 6-4,6-0.  

Ionia will turn around and play again on Friday at fowlerville.  Ionia’s overall record for matches is now 29-3.
