The Ionia Boys’ Cross Country team participated in their fourth 5K race at the Hornet Invitational. The event was divided by school grade, with juniors, sophomores, and freshmen competing. In this race, anyone who placed in the top 25 had the chance to come home with a medal. With 9 boys racing in total, the team secured 6 medals. In the junior race, Jaxxon Thelen led the way with a PR time of 18:28.11, placing 12th. He was closely followed by Dalles Bailiff, achieving a season best time of 20:55.96 and placing 21st, and Gabe Holman finished 29th with a PR time of 21:29.39. In the sophomore race, Conner Morrison finished 11th with a time of 19:54.14. In the freshman race, Liam Thelen took the lead, finishing 3rd with a personal record time of 18:34.83. Cooper Highlen finished 22nd with a time of 21:10.47, and behind him came Xander Towery, finishing 23rd with a personal record time of 21:37.53. Tylan Daniel finished 32nd with a personal record of 25:00.76. The Bulldogs’ next meet will be on Friday, September 13th at MSU Forest Akers East Golf Course.
