The Ionia girls varsity basketball team defeated Eaton Rapids Thursday night by a score of 41-35. Ionia led most of the way in this league victory. Ionia was up three with seconds to go when Jessa Swinehart went to the line and sank two key free throws. Swinehart ended up with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Brynn Reams led Ionia with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Josie Phelps had 7 points and 4 steals and Melayna Braman had 6 points.
Ionia plays again tomorrow night at Lakewood before heading into the final week of the season.
