EATON RAPIDS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 39
The Ionia girls varsity basketball team won on Tuesday, beating Eaton Rapids by a score of 42-39. Jessa Swinehart hit a three in the final seconds from the top of the key breaking a tie and giving Ionia the victory. It was Ionia's first win of the year and gives the bulldogs a 1-1 league record. Brynn Reams led the bulldogs with 20 points and 7 rebounds, 18 points came in the second half. Jessa Swinehart had 9 points and 5 rebounds and Josie Phelps had 5 points. Ionia jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but by halftime it was a one point game. The lead changed hands a number of times before it was tied at the end leading to Swinehart's game winning 3. Ionia plays Portland at home on Friday.
