Congratulations to Katelyn Lamphere and Christian Miller who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for October.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough last Thursday morning at the October IHS student awards ceremony.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

October Female Athlete of the Month: Katelyn Lamphere

Parents: Angela and Griff Lamphere

College: Alma College

Major: Early Elementary Education

Sports: Girls Swimming and Diving all 4 years. CAAC all conference award in the 50,100, and 200 Freestyle as well as  the 200 and 400 free relay. Centurion award for swim 2022 and double centurion award for swim 2023. Misca zone 7 all area team.  Plans to sign with Alma and swim for the Scots next year.

Academics:  CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar athlete, IHS honor roll student, Academic all-conference 

Leadership: Member of Link Crew and College Ambassadors Program.  Citizen of the month December 2021 and super grit coin winner semester 1 2023. 

October Male Athlete of the Month: Christian Miller

Parents: Kevin Miller and Ashley Wing

College: Grand Valley State University

Area of Study: Statistics

Sports: Tennis 4 yrs., Basketball 1 yr., Bowling 3 yrs., and Baseball 4 yrs.

Academics:  CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar athlete, IHS honor roll student, Academic all-conference 

Leadership: IHS National Honors Society, Interact, Student Council, and Tennis Captain.

Both Katelyn and Christian are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for October!
