Congratulations to Alexias Daugherty and Kellan Ferguson who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for September.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough on Thursday morning at the September IHS student awards ceremony.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

September Female Athlete of the Month: Alexias Daugherty

Sports: Basketball all conference sophomore year (all four years varsity) team academic all-state honors, volleyball (all four years), and softball honorable mention freshman year (1 year). 

Academics:  CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar athlete, IHS honor roll student, Academic all-conference for multiple sports. 

Leadership: Member of IHS National Honor Society, IHS Student Council, and varsity volleyball team captain.

September Male Athlete of the Month: Kellan Ferguson

Area of Study: Business

Sports: Football, Powerlifting, and Baseball all 4 years 

Leadership: Varsity Football captain, volunteer Coach,  Honorable Mention All Conference

Both Alexias and Kellan are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for September!
