Congratulations to Bailee Rux and Hunter Barker who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for December.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at the December IHS student awards ceremony.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

December Female Athlete of the Month: Bailee Rux

Major: Pediatrics

Sports: Cheerleading and Dance

Academics: Bulldog Scholar, IHS Scholar-Athlete, and CAAC All-Academic

Leadership: National Honors Society, Student Council Secretary, Link Crew leader, and Captain of Cheer team and Colorguard.

December Male Athlete of the Month: Hunter Barker

Parents: Matt and Jenn Barker

College: Lansing Community College

Area of Study: Electrical Utility/Lineman 

Sports: Football and Wrestling (all-conference honors in both)

Academics: IHS Scholar-Athlete, Member of football and wrestling honorable mention all-academic teams.

Leadership:  Team captain in wrestling and the Charles Kohloff Award winner in football.

Bailee and Hunter are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for December!
