Congratulations to Eily Martinez and Jacob Mongomery who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for November.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at Thursday morning’s November IHS student awards ceremony.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

November Female Athlete of the Month: Eily Martinez

Parents: Ryan and Amy Martinez

College: Saginaw Valley State University

Major: Rehabilitation Medicine

Sports: Girls Swimming (4 yrs.)

Academics: Bulldog Scholar, IHS Scholar-Athlete, and CAAC All-Academic

Leadership: National Honors Society and Captain of Swim Team.

November Male Athlete of the Month: Jacob Montgomery

Parents: Susie and Tim Montgomery

College: Undecided

Area of Study: Computer Science

Sports: Basketball (2 yrs.), Cross Country (4 yrs.), and Track (4 yrs.).   Cross Country CAAC White League Champion 2023 and State Finals qualifier.  Track State Finals qualifier and all-state in the 800 meter run.

Academics: Student of the Month, Bulldog Scholar, IHS scholar athlete, CAAC All-Academic, and Academic All-State in XC and track.

Leadership: National honors Society, Link Crew, Interact, SADD, YAC, Student Council, Principal’s Advisory Committee, and Cross Country Team Captain.

Both Eily and Jacob are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for November!
