Ionia Public schools opened its new tennis courts today with a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Superintendent Ben Gurk. Who thanked O.A.K construction, the school board, and our community for creating this top notch facility made of post tension concrete as IPS has kept another one of its Sinking Fund Promises!
IHS Principal Craig Bowen, "As the IHS Principal, community member and parent of 2 student-athletes, I recognize and appreciate the commitment to excellence our community and school has to both academics and athletics".
IPS Athletic Director Andy Barr, "On behalf of the Ionia athletic department, our coaches, and our athletes. I would like to thank the community, administration, the facilities committee, and all those who had a hand in creating our new tennis courts.
We are excited to host our first official tennis matches and the league tournament this fall, as every school in the league wanted to travel to Ionia this year to play on our new courts.
Tennis and other racket sports are lifetime sports that are students and athletes will have the opportunity to participate in through PE classes or by competing on our boys and girls tennis teams. Providing them a lifetime of enjoyment.
I am proud that IPS has chosen to make the courts available for community use. Allowing friends and families to reap the physical and mental health benefits sports have to offer".
Thank you Ionia and Go Dawgs!
