Congratulations to Megan Lennemann and Nathan Clute who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for December. Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at the December IHS student awards ceremony prior to the holiday break. The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics. Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.
December Female Athlete of the Month: Megan Lennemann
Parents: Betsy and David Lennemann
College: Undecided
Major: Political Science
Sports: Cross Country all-conference) and Track & Field ( CAAC All-Conference in both and 2022 MHSAA XC State Qualifier)
Academics: CAAC Scholar Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete, and IHS Honor Roll Student.
Leadership: NHS President, Superintendent Student Advisory Committee, Student Representative for Ionia Board of Education, Link Crew, Youth Advisory Council, and Students Against Destructive Decisions.

Parents: Christian and Renee Clute
College: Michigan Institute of Technology
Area of Study: Engineering
Sports: Football and Wrestling (CAAC All-Conference in both)
Academics: CAAC Scholar Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete, and IHS Honor Roll student.
Leadership: Ionia High School National Honor Society Member and wrestling team captain
Both Megan and Nathan are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes. Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for December!
