Congratulations to Avery Haney and Devon Reyes who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for September.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at the IHS student awards ceremony on Thursday, September 29th.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

September Female Athlete of the Month: Avery Haney

Major: Early Childhood Education

Sports: Golf and Soccer

Academics: CAAC Scholar Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete, and IHS Honor Roll Student.

Leadership: NHS and 2022 soccer team captain
 

September Male Athlete of the Month: Devon Reyes

Parents: Jose and Hermelanda Reyes 

College: Undecided

Major: Business

Sports: Soccer 4 years, Basketball 3 years, and track 3 years.  Will be a Block I award recipient after competing in a winter and spring sport his senior year.  All-Conference in soccer for 4 straight years.

Academics: CAAC Scholar Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete, and IHS Honor Roll student.

Leadership: Soccer Team Captain 3 years in a row and IHS National Honors Society member

Both Avery and Devin are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for September!
