2021-22 Independent Bank Athletes of the Year

Congratulations to Brynn Reams and Trevor who were named the 2021-22 Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Year.  Both Brynn and Trevor were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough on Tuesday, May 24th at Class Night.  The award has been presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics for over 25 years.  Independent Bank gave each student-athlete  a $1,000 scholarship towards their future education.

Female Athlete of the Year: Brynn Reams

Parents: Jason and Tami Reams & Rob and Tricia Gregory 

College: Aquinas College (will play basketball for the Saints)

Major: Nursing

Sports: Volleyball 4 yrs, Basketball 4 yrs, and Track and Field 4 yrs.  Block I Award recipient for participating in 3 sports seasons each year, CAAC All-Conference Athlete multiple sports, MHSAA State Qualifier, and All-State Athlete 

Academics: IHS Senior Scholar, IHS Scholar Athlete, IHS Honor Roll student, CAAC Academic All-Conference, Volleyball team academic all-state junior and senior year, individual academic all-state in track, basketball and volleyball. 

Leadership: NHS, IAAC, PSAC, Superintendent advisory committee, and treasure of student council.

Male Athlete of the Year: Trevor Tooker

Parents: Trevor and Lori Tooker

College: Central Michigan University

Major: Business Information Systems

Sports: Football 4yrs, Basketball 4yrs, and Track & Field 4yrs. Block I Award recipient for participating in 3 sports seasons each year, CAAC All-Conference Athlete multiple sports, MHSAA State Qualifier, and All-State Athlete 

Academics: IHS Senior Scholar, CAAC Top Ten Senior Scholar-Athlete, CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete,  IHS Honor Roll student, and team academic All-State in football, basketball and track.

Leadership: IAAC, NHS, Student council rep, volunteer at Ionia Free Fair, Toys for Tots, Adopt a Highway. Team Captain Football and basketball, 2 time MVP football.

Both Brynn and Trevor have represented their teams, school, families, and community with pride over the last 4 years.  They have made their teams and teammates better through their participation and are better for having participated.   We wish both of these Bulldogs good luck in all their future endeavors.
