Congratulations to Calah Holman and Trevor Tooker who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for December.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at the IHS student awards ceremony on Thursday, before the Holiday Break.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

December Female Athlete of the Month: Calah Holman

Parents: April and Charles Holman 

College: Undecided

Major: Geology or Environmental Geology

Sports: Girls Swim and Dance.

Academics: CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete,  IHS Honor Roll student, and team academic All-State in football, basketball and.

Leadership: captain of swim team, historian for NHS, president of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), Marching Band Drum Major for 3 years.

December Male Athlete of the Month: Trevor Tooker

Parents: Trevor and Lori Tooker

College: Undecided

Major: Business Information Systems

Sports: Football, Basketball, and Track.

Academics: CAAC Scholar-Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete,  IHS Honor Roll student, and team academic All-State in football, basketball and track.

Leadership: IAAC, NHS, Student council rep, volunteer at Ionia Free Fair, Toys for Tots, Adopt a Highway. Team Captain Football and basketball, 2 time MVP football.

Both Calah and Trevor are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for December!
