Congratulations to Olivia Bestrom and Collin Palmer who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for April.  Both student-athletes will be recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at our April student awards ceremony for their accomplishments this Thursday.  

The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

April Female Athlete of the Month: Olivia Bestrom

Parents: Rhonda and Steve Bestrom

College: Michigan State University

Major: Animal Science

Sports: Powerlifting and Track & Field 3 years.  Placed 3rd at the girls 2021 State Meet in her weight class

Academics: IHS Senior Scholar, CAAC Top Ten Senior Scholar-Athlete, CAAC All-Academic, IHS Scholar Athlete, and IHS Honor Roll

Leadership: Vice President of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SAAD), Link Crew member, and NHS member. 

April Male Athlete of the Month: Collin Palmer

Parents: Laurie and Cale Palmer 

College: Michigan State University

Major: Finance

Sports: Baseball and Tennis.

Academics: IHS Scholar Athlete and IHS Honor Roll student

Leadership: Varsity Baseball Co-Captain

Both Olivia and Collin are not only successful in their respective sports but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for April!
