Spring Sports Information and Sign Ups
Spring sports practices/tryouts are set to start on March 22nd and IHS will offer the opportunity for students to participate in: Boys/Girls Track and Field, Baseball, Softball, Girls Soccer, Girls Tennis and boys golf (see chart below). Any students interested in playing must have a sports physical, a signed Ionia Athletics Acknowledgement/Release/Waiver, and a completed 20-21 IHS Sports Registration Form on file before they are allowed to participate/tryout.
All potential spring athletes need to complete the Ionia High School Springs Sports Sign Up Form so coaches have your contact information and can send you updates
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ionia Public Schools requires all students to have a completed physical on file in the Athletic Director's Office before being able to participate/tryout. All physicals must be completed (on or after April 15th) on a MHSAA Physical Form to comply with MHSAA regulations regarding student eligibility.
Parents make sure all sections of the physical card listed below are completely filled in or IPS will not accept your students physical.

MHSAA PHYSICAL EXAMINATION POLICY Students must have on file, in the school’s office, a physician’s statement for the current school year (on or after April 15), certifying that he/she is physically able to compete in athletic practices and contests. An assumption of risk and consent to participation signed by the student and parent or guardian as well as consent to disclosure of information otherwise protected by FERPA and HIPAA must also be on file prior to participation.
IONIA ATHLETICS ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, RELEASE, AND WAIVER
All parents/guardians and students must sign the Ionia Athletics Acknowledgement, Release, and Waiver and turn into the Athletic Director's Office before they are allowed to participate/tryout. Any families not willing to sign and complete the Ionia Public Schools Athletics Participation Risk Acknowledgement, Release, and Waiver of Liability Agreement will not be allowed to participate in sports for the 2020-21 school year.
2020-21 IHS SPORTS REGISTRATION FORM
All parents/guardians and athletes must complete the IHS sports registration form prior to being able to participate. If you completed it in the fall or winter you do not need to complete it again. This form will be shared with parents once we have a completed physical and waiver on file.
IPS AND MHSAA REQUIREMENTS

Students must bring their own water to practices and games.

Students must wear a mask at all times.

Students must complete Covid-19 Monitoring form prior to participating each day.

All athletic practices and contests will follow IPS Return to Activities/Athletics Protocols and MHSAA Return to Play Guidelines.

If no coach is listed please stop in the SSO with your questions.
