October Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Avery Roundtree and Matthew Meyer who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for October.  Both student-athletes were recognized by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough at the Lloyd T. Smith Memorial Field on Thursday, November, 5th.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics.  Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the $1000 Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

October Female Athlete of the Month: Avery Roundtree

Parents: Patrick and Kristine Roundtreee

College: Undecided

Major: Health Sciences

Sports: Cross Country 4 yrs, Girls Basketball 3 yrs, and Track 3 yrs. Honorable Mention All-Conference Track & Field, All-Conference Cross Country, and MVP for XC 2019. On pace to earn the Block I Award for 3 Season Athlete all 4 years of her high school career.

Academics: IHS National Honors Society Gold  Status member, CAAC Scholar Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete, and IHS Honor Roll student.

Leadership: Ionia Athletic Advisory Committee, Principal's Student  Advisory Committee, Youth Advisory Council, Link Crew, Altar Server at SSPP, and Reaching Higher Leadership Program.

October Male Athlete of the Month: Matthew Meyer

Parents: Jamie and Veronica Meyer

College: Undecided

Major: Finance

Sports: Football 4 years and Baseball 3 years,Captain of Football and Baseball team, and  All-Conference Football 2020.

Academics: IHS National Honors Society member, CAAC Scholar Athlete, IHS Scholar Athlete, IHS Honor Roll student, and member of the 2019 Academic All-State Football Team.

Leadership: Ionia Athletic Advisory Committee President, Principal's Student  Advisory Committee, and Member of 4-H.

Both Avery and Matthew are not only successful in athletics but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank female and male student-athletes of the month for October.
