Congratulations to Madeline Pischea and Carter Meyers who were named Independent Bank Student-Athletes of the Month for December.  Both student-athletes were recognized at the high school student awards ceremony on Thursday, December 19th by Independent Bank representative Boomer Hoppough.  The award is presented to seniors based on leadership, academics, and athletics. Each student-athlete now qualifies for a chance to win the Independent Bank Student-Athlete of the Year scholarship presented on senior night to one male and one female athlete.

Madeline was nominated by IHS Dance coach Andi Patrick, who thanked her for the leadership role she has taken in the Coach Patrick’s first year.  From helping teach routines to organizing an Alumni Dance, Madeline has stepped up helping to make it a smooth transition for the coach and the girls dancing on the team.

Carter was nominated by varsity wrestling coach Luke Smalley.  Meyers is currently 8-0 on the season and a captain on the wrestling team.  He is also in line to receive the IHS Block I Award given to athletes who compete in a fall, winter and spring sport each year of their high school careers.

Both Pischea and Meyers are not only successful in athletics but in the classroom as well, and serve as great role models for our younger athletes.  Congratulations to both of them for being recognized as the Independent Bank male and female student-athletes of the month for Decemb
